What's a mentor? Someone every career hotshot needs to soar up the corporate ranks? By that time, it might be too little, too late.

Mentoring has to start a lot earlier. If it doesn't, odds are a kid won't ever make it to the starting gate, let alone onto the fast track.

Mentors are those bigger-than-life people who keep kids straight and fired up: mom or dad, sister or brother, teacher or just plain pal. That's where Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) have stepped in for nearly a century. The organization provides mentors for 200,000 kids through 508 affiliates.
